I noticed your engine hatches are recessed, Is that factory, Mine are flush mounted so when you put the cushion's on they actually stick up above the deck height.

P.S. Here is a shot of what the dash board will look like with the new graphics.

Are you looking to go more wild then the red and white?

Westcoast 12-11-2007 11:42 AM

No...I just painted it 2 years ago...I am real happy with the look. It used to be pretty disco with some orange in the color...I wanted a real clean and sexy look. I removed all the hardware including the rails and installed pop up running lights, cleats etc. The hatches all came flush mounted unless you had a blower motor... or tunnel ram....I sure some one modified it...If mine were flush I might put a low profile scoop back there. Good luck with your dash...there is not alot to work with. I will post a picture of mine...

Ed,

Here is a quick shot at it, The resolution of the picture was a little low which is why it looks a bit grainy, It gives a good idea though. Any chance you have a side shot with a higher resolution.

Not in the water...But Next time I am in the water I will take a money shot for you

Thanks, Your dash came out real nice too. I have some engine shots but they are @ home, I will upload tonight. The engines are out right now as they were a mess when I bought the boat. I am in the process of rewiring the entire boat and rebuilding the engines. I am modifing the engine mounts because 7 hours to remove the engines is not something I am willing to do more then once. I am designing the mounts so I can leave the exhaust manifolds on the engines when I remove them. anyway, I will upload some pics tonight.

Eddie,

Here are a few shots of the engines. Like I said they need some fresh paint and both need head jobs which is being done as we speak!

Looks like you might have borg warner trannys...????
Are you going to keep the Fresh water cooling?

They are borg warner trannys and I am definitely keeping the fresh water cooling. I am replumbing both engines because they way the are plumbed currently is like a rats nest. I am gonna make a plate that mounts on top of the tranny's that contains the oil cooler, tranny cooler, remote oil filter, MSD Box, Ignition Coil, and fuel pump. That way everything comes out with the engines and makes the install a lot cleaner.

Was your originally fresh water cooled? Are you running TRS's with Borg Warners?

Westcoast 12-11-2007 07:00 PM

I am running trs drives with merctrans.
Never had fresh water cooling...I have a really slick flushing set up were I can Hook 1 hose up to the side and flush both motors without even opening the hatches. I did not want to add it either because it is already hard enough to work in there as it is. I have the steel intake so it does ok.

502ss 12-11-2007 07:10 PM

I assume they are 454's, What kind of horsepower and speed do you see?

The 502's are making about 565HP ea. The boat will run mid 80's on a pitot speedo, Can't wait to see what she runs on a GPS!

Sebago frozen over yet?

I hope to have the scarab in the water next year. I plan to spend most of my time on sebago with it.

You spend any time at the sand bar at the mouth of the songo river?

Westcoast 12-11-2007 07:14 PM

454's 330hp...60mph on my gps...
Your GPS will disappoint you!!
This is a very hard hull to make speed with. The outdrives are so deep in the water. If your hitting 80 then maybe they raised your x-dim. That might explain why your hatches are flush mounted...What props are you running?

502ss 12-11-2007 07:39 PM

I am expecting high 70's with over 1100HP but who knows, I am not sure what props I have and they are all tucked away right now for the winter. When I pull the other boat out of the garage I will take a look at the props.

Screamin' Seamen' 12-13-2007 07:36 AM

Sebago is open but at these temps it shouldn't be much longer. I'll definetaley be out there. I do hace a starboard engine problem though. I cracked a head the day of the poker run which was just after the pics were taken. I through another head on(borrowed from BIGGUS) but some damage was done to the piston. I got the season out of it but I have some work to do in the spring.
