Scottie,

I keep forgetting to ask, Where did you get the windscreen or who made it?

How is everything else going?

I had it made- a local company called RBI designed and built it for me, in my opinion it makes the boat- or at least updates it a little bit. As far as my boat is concerned- I haven't even looked at it for a month, and I really don't have a good excuse.
My motivation is at a all time low:mad:

If you don't mind me asking what did it cost you? It's fiberglass right?

No Motivation! Is the boat running OK? Must be almost winter time up there! :lolhit:

I am already preparing myself for having to wear my snowmobile suit when I sea trial mine!

I don't remember exactly- I do remember thinking it was expensive, but everything on the boat has been that way:eek: Also its made out of Aluminum- not fiberglass. I want to say somewhere around $2500 with paint.

The boat runs wicked- thats not the problem. The problem is all the stupid little $hit you have to do to make it right. The main headache is the leaking from the transom- I have to pull both engines back out to reseal the exhaust donut in the transoms, and I am not too excited about it. I did however get the rear hatch pad done, I will shoot some photos and post them because it turned out really good. I have to give my mom a lot of credit- because she is the one who did it!!:coolcowboy:

Didn't happen- turns out my partner did not want a partner. So I just have my old Scarab. Looking at the world right now, I am beginning to think thats not a bad thing:eek:

Westcoast 09-24-2009 07:56 PM

I've had both of my engines out a couple times each since I finished my project...You can get pretty good at it with practice:coolcowboy:

Is the market getting better on older boats yet? Lately looking at all the usual places things seem to be starting to sell again- or is it just wishful thinking on my part?

look on Shoguns website

scottie150 12-22-2009 12:13 PM

So maybe I need to market mine as the first one made that year:cool-smiley-011:

scottie150 05-07-2010 10:54 PM

Got the Scarab out today, installed the rear hatch pad, got the cockpit carpet ordered, and cleaned it all up and got it ready to go. Anyone have any ideas where I can get a cabin door made? I would like one made out of plastic, or plexi. Any ideas would be appreciated. :coolcowboy:

Westcoast 05-07-2010 11:00 PM

I made mine out of plexi...never really worked out well. It finally cracked after a pounding in the ocean (you won't have to worry about that). Been without the door for a season now...If I do anything I'm going to have my canvas guy make something with a zipper door.

Hope things are going well for you scottie...Glad your getting the boat out!:coolcowboy:

Good to hear from you Eddie- missed you at Havasu this year- how are things down south?

Couple of pics from building the rear hatchpad- not real great but I will get some better ones when I get the carpet.

We were there this year...things down south are great:coolcowboy:

I was thinking of making one out of plexi too. Or maybe starboard. Around here we have a place called tap plastics that will build stuff like that for you. Eddie how thick was the plexi you used on yours? Did you go with a one piece door or two that folded in the middle?

Buy this and he will cut it to the size you need. (5 free cuts)
Then go to a local tint shop and have him throw some limo (5%) tint on the insiede. Drill your holes and your done.

I am actually having the top hatch made in Acrylic (plexiglass) now but the original was Lexan. (polycarbonate)

we have a place out here in pleasant hill, calif. called tap plastics that we have used in the past. they will cut, shape and bend a piece of plastic to what ever you might need. i would assume you would have to send them a template of some sort but they are preety good at what they do. they also sell plastics in a sorts of differents thicknesses and colors-(clear, smoked, etc...)

Holy crap!! This thread and rebuild is epic! What is the latest on this work of art? I really like the wind-screen, really modernizes the boat.

Thank you!

Its Back

So its been a while since anyone commented on this boat so I thought I would give it a go. We bought this boat in March of this year (2012) and she was looking a little worse for wear. The owner at the time had had her parked up for over 2 years and not used her. After about 6 hours of digging we finally managed to get the trailer released from the ground it sank into and on her way to a new life!! Now we have her up and running, she has a new lease of life and WOW what an amazing boat she is. We have finished off the inerior that never got completed, tuned and fixed the engines and polished them up and installed a $3k stereo. Everything is working perfect and the boat rocks!! Literally. We have a youtube channel dedicated to her and our other boats so please check it out. I will post more now ive figured out how to use the forum so keep checking back. Thanks to Johnny at Hullside Marine http://www.hullside.com/ for all the work so far. Your awesome Johnny!!!

Thanks for looking

Rick

scottie150 08-23-2012 12:38 PM

Always wondered what happened/ how it ended up. Kind of one of those bad nightmare scenarios where you want to open the closet door but you just can't bring yourself to do it.

Hopefully you got a great deal- as I lost my a$$ on that boat- whenever I look at doing anything my wife always brings up "the Scarab" to rub it in a little more:lolhit:

duckymac9 08-23-2012 02:48 PM

yeah she was not the prettiest of things when we picked her up the guy that we bought her from to be honest did not have a clue he basically ran her till she would go no more then parked her up but we have poured blood sweat and tears into her and she runs like a new penny. Scottie you did a fantastic job though I followed your thread from the original rebuild and to see her the way she turned out is amazing, everything looks professional and very sharp. We have a youtube group with videos of her now in the water and lots of pics so give me a shout and ill pass you over the details. Maybe we could arrange to meet up sometime and you can take her for a burn, let me know

Rick
