Scarabs are why searay quite making Pachanga's! In the late 80's a Scarab cost 20K and a Pachanga cost 40K! Many people went for the volkswagon over the beamer! Ya want a solid ride?...Pachanga! or a rattle trap....a Scarab! My Pachanga is 20 years old and is as solid as new!

That must be why I have seen so many Pachanga's setting speed records and winning races during that same time line
You know liking what you have is OK but bashing a line of boats that had so many more success stories in a thread dedicated to them is just asking for a hard time..
I noticed yours is listed on ebay... Hows that working out?

I was just giving my honest opinion. I tested quite a few boats before I bought mine. Every wellcraft I drove felt like it was going to break all to pieces if it hit any rough water whatsoever! By all means I am no boat expert. But quality of manufacture does speak for itself. Maybe a scarab can go faster...but how long will the hull hold together?

I would also like to add...I was just offering what I consider a very good alternative to a scarab in the same price range.

My buddy has a Pachanga...good boat. My Scarab? Better boat...

I agree Ill take my Scarab over a Pachanga any day. 16 yrs old and no problems.

I sold my 1996 22ft Scarab last year for 22K. It was in mint condition. Always kept indoors. Lots of extras. High back buckets like the 1998's. Custom dash, Had the Shattered graphics. The boat would run upper 60's to 70 GPS max. That was with a 7.4 MPI LX ,330 HP. and a labbed 25 P Mirage prop. I put a 502 MPI in it for one year and the best that ran was 74 GPS same 25 P mirage prop, just was able to run it a little higher rpm. Put the 7.4 back in before I sold it. The boat was a blast to drive and they have great lines. Got compliments everywhere I went. I too would choose the scarab over the hammer.

Wow! This thred became inteteresting while I was gone. I guess we all have our favorites. I'm still searching for a boat. I'm looking at the 23SCS and a Donzi 22ZX now. Two different style boats, but I'd be happy with either of them. I've got a little while before I'm going to decide, but thanks to everyone's help, I've eliminated the Hammer from my selection. My friend's Baja is nice, but it's also longer so it looks more "normal".

Yes, this was definitely a "humble" opinion, not bashing by any means................I think that "rattle" experienced by scarab owners you mention is the sound of necks snapping back ;-)
