Thanks guys for the help but I am not trying to spend $50k for a Scarab KV that was 85k new. .For a boat that is 20 plus years old, in origanal condition 15k-25k. Depending on shape.

Engines that run decent and a working set of TRS drives are worth more than 15k. If you spend 15-25k, you'll have double that in it in the first 20 hrs fixing it.

And a 20yr old boat that hasnīt had any upgrades/upkeep will need a complete overhaul. And I mean a Complete.
Those in the classifieds are worth to take a look into IMO despite the stiff prices.

1. As I can recall Scarab KV were well over $100K in the mid to late 80's NOT $85K.
2. any boat that isn't a piece of rotted out junk is going to cost you at least $50K.
3. If you are really in the market for a cheap Scarab KV here is one for you:

I gotta agree with phughes69 on this one. Were back to getting what you pay for. To rebuild a boat RIGHT, it would cost you way over what some of the people on the board are asking for their boats.
If I had the coin I would jump all over the KV in the classifieds. I've seen them for cheaper , but when I b uy something I want to get in it and drive, not worry about the months ahead I'm looking at to get to drive it.
Power boating has never been a cheap sport, and those who think it is, must be from a different planet. I'm on the philosophy you pay now or you pay later. Take your pick.
But good luck looking for your quest for a cheap KV.
I have been boating since 89 and had 3 different boats. From outborads to inboards. And NONE of them have ever been a cheap fix...
