Depending on the day 76GPS = 80-82 on my speedo
They do lie ... Anyway Full tank 2 people my boat barly breaks 70 .. With just me and 1/4 tank I get to 76 in a hurry
Weight is a big factor once your prop + slip is maxed for the available HP with the stock 502

ok just expected my baot to go 75 mph.with that new prop on it,i did not no i would have to get rid of my passenger and 308 lbs. of fuel to do that ,i guess i will have to be happy with 68 mph.still feels good at flight,a little walk though on a 3 ft.chop yesterday

Yesterday, for the first time in like 2 months, Georgian Bay was dead calm. So, I got to really put the hammer down. With 2 people and just under a full tank of gas, I saw an indicated 78mph at around 5200rpm. Now, here's the thing - I still had about 15% throttle to go. I actually backed right out once I saw the rpm reading because the max on the 502 is 5k rpm. I have verified that the prop is indeed a 25" Bravo 3 blade.

So what prop should I upgrade to? Clearly, there's more top end in this boat, and I'd like to see just how much there is.

I'd also like to know why the boat seems to be very fast for that hull/motor combo. I am wondering if I got a particularly strong 502 from the factory by the luck of the draw.

I must say this thing is just awesome!
What elevation are you boating at?Huge variance at sea level or 2500 feet.If your boating at lets say 2500 feet, you will easliy lose 2mph.We are boating at 6k elevation and at WOT (5150) rpm the speedo says 68mph when infact gps says 72.2.The reason my boat gps's at 72.2 is the port work, roller rockers and good flowing exhaust. With just me in it and less than half a tank will run 75 all day.

Now the weight consideration is a whole different deal. With my race car for every 100lbs it sheds the car will run a 10th faster in the 1/4 mile.Same therory hold true for a boat but the actual mph gain I really wouldn't know.I think you might have more in that engine with labbing the prop.

Oh....speedos are never accurate.

Prostreeter,

Georgian Bay is fresh water and about 500 feet above sea level. Also, the water was calm, wind was zero and the air temp was probably 68 to 70 with no humidity. A perfect day.

Hope to experiment a little more before the end of the season, but don't know anyone with a GPS that I can borrow . . .

That's a nice boat, but why does it need a recalibrated ECU with just upgraded exhaust? Seems like a waste of money to me.

I kind of like the bimini top, though.

Man, these are tempting!

I'm staying bone stock because I plan to upgrade next year. But if I don't and these are still around, well...
