Good call.Corvettes of that generation are a loosing investment. The depriciation value is equal to what your boat is actually worth on the market.Your orange SCS is keeper dude!!!!

How many did Wellcraft make?, 13 or 14 and how many are left in exsistence...maybe 9.Keep it.

I just sold my Pro Street Mustang to a guy in Canada today. Will be going to Barrett-Jackson auction in January and HOPEFULLY buy my dream car.

ok im getting close

freshwaterfiend 10-09-2007 12:09 AM

Okay guys, got some new better numbers for you all:

Hit an indicated 81mph with 3 people and approx 1/2 tank of fuel yesterday! RPM's were just over 5000. I was going with the wind so that pushed it over the top, but the boat was hitting 78 into the wind.

So, I think I'm going to try out the 26" 4-blade next season and see how it responds. Any thoughts?

Man this boat is fun!

been thinking about it ,i just got back from biketober fest in daytona beach and that coast was looking good,im a little worn out from riding for 7 days ,,me and the harley had a blast, strees reliever without a doubt,

freshwaterfiend 10-28-2007 11:17 PM

Put my baby to bed today.

Marina thinks I should go for the 28" pitch 4 blade, not the 26". After a test run he thought the 25" was WAY too small for the motor in my boat. Hit 5k at 75% throttle.

Must have gotten lucky on my motor - seems particularly strong. I'm thinking of getting a freer flowing exhaust and then trying out the 28".

Thoughts?

502SCS 10-29-2007 07:01 AM

I think the 28 will be too big. You will find yourself trimming up to get your RPM/Speed up.
I went there myself and had to go back to the Bravo1 4 blade.
It seems to do the trick on my stock w/aftermarket aluminum exhaust.
My 0.02:rolleyes:

freshwaterfiend 10-29-2007 11:18 AM

How far up do you guys trim at WOT?

Typically, I keep going until the speedo stops climbing.

Best thing sounds like I should try out both props and if I need a bit more than the 26, I can always have it labbed, no?

502SCS 10-29-2007 11:28 AM

I have always felt that I had to trim more than I wanted to but I do the same Trim till speedo stops climbing
How far ?? My trim guage said 1/2 sooo

freshwaterfiend 10-29-2007 02:00 PM

Heh,

That's where I end up as well. Right at half trim. Boat feels nice and light - I love that feeling of skimming across the water. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't over trimming.

502SCS 10-29-2007 02:33 PM

My boat is solid to 70 .. If no cross wind 75 Anything above 75 no boat in the water is cool :-()
If I get a cross wind or hell if I know holding my cheek wrong it will start to chin walk and it can get interesting if you dont trim back down!. Makes for a great thrill :ernaehrung004:

freshwaterfiend 10-29-2007 03:30 PM

Haha, this is great to hear. Do you use your tabs to stabilize when the boat starts to walk? Sometimes on the bay, it's calm but there are underlying rollers that can start to upset the boat's balance above 70. Wondering if tabs would help this.

502SCS 10-29-2007 03:39 PM

My boat has no tabs .. Just throttle and trim .. And a loose "NUT" behind the wheel :p

coolhand502 10-29-2007 04:08 PM

i drop my tabs to 2 on gauge when she is at half trim and wfo
with myself and the wife

502SCS 10-29-2007 04:15 PM

I had someone a while back say that with the large aluminum tabs that it made the boat take rough water like a boat 2 or 3 feet longer

freshwaterfiend 10-29-2007 10:32 PM

I hope so, I have my eye on a set of Imco tabs for the beast. I'd like some more rough water capability to be quite honest. You should see all the stuff that has broken or come loose on the boat since I got it - heh!

502SCS 10-30-2007 07:19 AM

Let me know how it goes for you. I have been wondering for a while.

Prostreeter 10-30-2007 07:58 PM

You guys wont be disappointed at all with the investment of a good set of tabs.I don't know if it's standard equipment with a new set of trim tabs but definitly spring for the guages as well. You'll be happy you did.

When the water starts to get up to 3 foot chop I'll tab down 3/4 of the guage and it's like riding on a rail road, can't feel any bumps but it does slow the boat down somewhat.

I'm thinking a 28 may be too big too.Would take longer out of the hole and on plane.Heck,a good marina will let you test props at no charge if brought back in good conditon.

As for how far up do I trim it,I really think every boat has it's own "sweet spot".It took me a while to learn where mine likes to be.After I come out of the hole and get on plane I trim all the way up which is about 1/2 of the guage.Once there I just qlick it down just a tad and I can feel the prop BITE and the rpm's go to 5150 and the boat just cruises along.

Why do you want to sell your SCS?
Very nice Ebay ad your wrote up.
Is there another boat you want more than your SCS

502SCS 11-09-2007 09:23 AM

I dont want to sell it.
I need to step up and buy a new house while the market is soft here in florida.
As most of you know I had a stupid b$%^ hit me on my motorcycle in march that had me in a wheel chair for several months and multiple surgeries.
That has depleted a large portion of my savings.
I have the reserve set high enough to not make it a dumb transaction however it still is not an easy deal ...
We do what we have to do sometimes
