Hey puder, who cares about the Baja Forum, we go for quality, not quantity....and besides that, we have better looking avatars than the Baja boys!! heheh

Lets be carful not to hurt their Little feelers!!

Me and Wally already went at them one time in a little battle!!!

Quality is Right!!!

Hell, we always talk about looks and performance over here. We can't help it if we don't break or have parts fall OFF!!!!!

I thought this was over but perhaps not.

I will be the first to say that I would rather have an older Scarab than an older Baja. But nowadays the opposite is true. Scarab used to be the king of the seas. Now, only a shell remains. Just a couple of years ago they offered about 8-9 models. Now they only offer 4 models and 3 of those 4 models date back to the early 90’s. Most “Scarab Dealers” are merely Wellcraft dealers that tell you “Yeah, we can get you a Scarab if you really want one.” Hell, Scarab's annual production run is probably so low that they can start calling themselves a "custom builder"

Baja on the other hand is headed in the exact opposite direction. They probably sink more into R&D now than any other builder out there (selling lots of boats has it’s advantages). Since 1997 they have introduced 14 new models and have 2 more slated for 2003. Scarab may still have a presence in racing but what do they have cooking for the average consumer?

I wish someone would buy the Scarab name and bring them back – kind of the way that American Marine Holdings bought Donzi back in 1994. Look how far they have come since then.

29Outlaw

I think what you said was WELL put!!!

I've owned both and voiced my opinion. A little ribbin' never hurt anything. Me and Bajadaze give it to each other every once in a while!!!

29scarab, dude, read the last sentence of your post and tell me that doesnt just sound wrong!!!

As for what 29Outlaw said.....my head falls down in dissappointment cause its soo true..... Scarab was a name back in the day that was right up there along with Cigarette. Now adays you mention it and people are like....they still make boats? I cant remember them coming out with anything new in a long time now! And its true...someone SHOULD buy the name and bring back the boats. If the quality was there the name alone would help move the boats!

Awww, Man!! Geez Wally! Way to shed some light on that!

As for 29 and Wally's statements...So true! It's a shame, it really is...You're right wally, back in the hayday The mere mention of the word commanded respect. It's a legacy growing old.

Damn!! I leave for an hour and this thread goes crazy!!

I guess I should of thought about thew comment Wally!!

Bajadaze, Dude! Waaaaaaaazup!!!

As for the Scarab name!! It has taken a shortcoming on its effort to stay with the legacy it once had!!

I hate to say this, but I can't guarantee my next boat will be a Scarab.

My next boat due to my traveling, would be nice to have some extra ammenitites for over night stays. It would save on the Hotel bills!! Something like A/c ,gen, standup shower, toilet. Some thing to accomodate me for a friday and saturday night stay and leave on sunday back to work!!

Thats in the works next!!
