Default anchor light location on 38' Scarab???

My 1998 38' Scarab is missing the anchor light. My 31' had a mount right in front of the windshield, but there is not even a receptical anywhere on this boat. Maybe it doesn't because it was originally built for outside the U.S. Anyhow where do you guys have it mounted? I was thinking of getting one of those electric telescopic ones for the back. Would that be legal for a 38'? Thanks Mike

well I checked the law and a boat over 26' needs a anchor light up front by windscreen I guess. Ive checked through all of my pics of 38's and they all seem to have the light up on the deck right behind the center deck rail. Again maybe because my boat was built for outside the U.S.? I need to come up with something soon if I am going to boat after dark. Mike

If you put it up front it will take care of your nightvision. Mount it on the back with a switch allowing you to use it as an anchorlight as well.

The one on my boat is just infront of the windscreen in the middle. It is removeable with a plastic cap over it. I'm sure it is the factory light. Good luck Jeff

Well apparently on 26' and up it cannot be in the rear. So I just bought a 36" light and mounted it in the very front left of the dash, right behind the windscreen. I didnt want to try to fish the wires through the headliner and it is easier to reach where I put it. I remember on my 31' Fittipaldi it was on the deck, and was a pain in the a$$ to reach over the windshield.

Your boat is 11.58 meters long and a round light on the stern fullfill the requirements. The law states that vessels OVER 12meters long has to have two. Do yourself a favor and install it behind you with a switch that allows you to use it by it self for anchoring or with your sidelights for nav...
