My mother-in-law's boyfriend just came home with a white 23' Scarab last week. He bought in the Dallas area (outside of Dallas).
Here's a link to the pic...

Is this one of these "SCS" models you guys are referring to?
Anyone familiar with this boat specifically?

It is a scarab 22, not a scs they are two differnt boats. Look up a scs . A scs drives from the left side and has a council in the middle. Go to the wellcraft site and manuals . It is not a bad boat i have one but with that power it will do 65 mph

That's what I was thinking. I didn't think Scarab made a 23' boat that wasn't an SCS because it was a rt-hand drive...so I figured this was actually a 22' Scarab.
Thanks for helping me clear it up.

Acually, I think the SCS part was an option. It had trim tabs and indicators and perhaps a few other goodies. I too had a 22' Scarab (1995) with the 7.4L. It was a strong boat that pulled hard from a start (acually could tow skiers), but in my opinion not nearly the boat a 23' is. In rarenes nor quality. It is like comparing a Porsche Boxter S to a Carrera Cabriolet. This is why back in 1998 when I looked a brand new 22' Scarabs, they were $29k and a 23' was over $40k. Thats like, a $1000 and inch!

SCS was a completely different boat - hull, deck, interior -wasn't it? The SCS was 23'3" long, came standard I believe with the 454 carb and the options went all the way up to the 502MPI. Tabs, and hydraulic steering were options, but you needed to spec the hydraulic steering to get the 502. I bought mine new last year (never sold originally) and it was a stripper 502 - ie the only options it had were the 502 and the hydraulic steering. Just what I was looking for.
