Default Scarab 27' Sport information

Hy everybody,

I am a new Scarab owner frow France so excuse-me for my bad english...

I bought a Scarab 27' Sport last December and I have worked on it from december to august to offer him a new lease of life. Everything is new exept the engines and the trim tabs.

There is today :
- 2 Mercury 200 Offshore (XL shoft lenght) on 2 manual lift plates
- 2 Mirage plus 23" pitch or 2 Laser II 25" pitch
- 2 trim tabs
- Gaffrig throttles
- Isotta steering wheel
- L&S hydraulic steering
- Northstar explorer 557 chartplotter with 2 fuel flowmetter
- Hawk Eye in hull depth sounder

I have some things to finish this winter as the aft bench, fix the table, hull graffic (sticker)...

Can everybody guive me some information about this model in this configuration ? I have done much research and I found only one other copy in Italy.

The hull number is PBI0027860029 (27', year 1986 and hull #29).

It looks like a 26' with a huge sunbath area, a stepped hull and a higher deck (between the hub rail and the handrail). We can also notice that there is no insert for the lateral cleats and the fuel filling.

Thanks for your help or your feedback.

Best regards.

Nice job! I did not see this thread before I commented earlier. Now for the bad news......That is not a Scarab You have an 86 27 footer that was made by Paradise boat company. But Still an awesome looking boat. And you still can be a member of the S.O.C. at heart.

MIC Company Address City State
PBI PARADISE BOATS INC. 2312 B NORTHWEST 150TH ST MIAMI FL

Thank you, I began to feel lonely here ! lol

For PBI, I already had these information here :
http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/m...il.aspx?id=PBI
It's written out of business so if you have more information about this company...

The only thing I am sure now :
- this boat and the other in Italy where imported in Europe as Scarab Sport
- the table and some others parts are stamped with the W of Wellcraft (it's in the gelcoat so from the mold)

- the hull, the fuel tank and the common part of the deck are EXACTLY the same as the Wellcraft Scarab Excalibur Speedster 27' of the same years (thanks to an owner of an other US forum for this information and some other pics)

Maybe it is a copy but it's hard to think that it's possible to copy a hull from Wellcraft, to stamp it with the Wellcraft logo and to export it as a Wellcraft in Europe, no ?
Maybe PBI was building scarab under Wellcraft licence agreement like Larry Smith ?

If someone have any information or a Scarab with a VIN# starting by PBI...
