ok here's the big question of the day... which way would you go with this project assuming you were in my seat/pants lol
I have, at my disposal the option to run either #5's on boxes or wet sump 6's, the power is still same, 1100sc's big torque (14:71 hi helix retrofit case) that should explain to my readers, as to why the blowers sits so far back on the manifolds... my concerns are not only for speed, I also want some dependability, GK Systems is now making many of the SSM gearsets solving some of the Merc "NLA" situation. That still leaves the case issue to deal with... All this being said, "WHAT DO I DO?" |
75 in relatively calm, The guy i bought it from says it does 80. I fig with some nice chop she may get close to that.
|
I thought 6s were always killer looking.

With my IIIA's at 2" below on 35" center I'm cruising at about 85mph @ 4500rpm... haven't opened it up yet, but I'm sure close to or just over 100 is a probability in the right water... now a staggered setup on 21" centers would yield much greater speeds, I was told by Macnamara at Archer that I should expectat least 110, but likely once I get all sorted out 115mph isn't out of reality... (5's on boxes) he also said that 6's would produce similar results, but I'm having trouble accepting that logic... |
How much speed variation is there between drives?
|
well that's the million $$$ question isn't it?? lol
thats why I wanna do it right the first time... |
this is going to be an awesome project!
