What RPM did you run with the 32S

Team Archer 03-11-2014 01:55 PM

Sorry just went back and ran the numbers again I was using the wrong gear ratio 17.5 x 35 5 blade if you can turn them you should run about 109 to 110

i was responding to whoever asked about which drive they thought was faster and i was giving a for instance. Imo the 5 drive seems to be faster i was not comparing boats. I am a big fan of scarab's i have had 3.

I didn't think you were comparing or bashing, and my consiglieri has a flat deck (Rick G) with a pair of my 750's in it, or soon to be in it lol as for the plaining issue I'm hopin the 1" spacer cav plates will help

so 5 blade for sure then yes? not 4 blade?? I was under the impression less blades was faster?? but maybe not in this application...
as for your question of rpm 5500 was where I was at without stepping on the blowers 6% under, 4 lbs of boost... so as u can see lots left in the tune up

adk61 03-11-2014 02:22 PM

my question now Dan is what impact will stagger and 3.5" higher x dim have on the prop??

Team Archer 03-11-2014 02:32 PM

your slip numbers should go down. the higher X with the stagger will carry the boat a lot higher out of the water. the 5 blade just gives you more trimability to carry that heavy nose with high X dim. and you also need the diameter in the prop. That also helps carry the boat

Team Archer 03-11-2014 02:33 PM

Have you ever weight the boat ?

RickyDanner 03-12-2014 08:40 AM

Rookie question - does staggering create better performance due to weight distribution differences or location of props in the water?

it is my understanding, that there are many advantages to staggering... they are as follows

1) better weight distribution... especially with blown engines as they are very heavy...
2) because the drives are closer together, (typically 21" apart) the engines can be rigged lower in the hull achieving better center of gravity...
3) the drives being this close together give the hull much better lift which = more speed
4) makes for easier maintenance as you can get around the engines when one is in front of the other...
5) because the engines are now lower in the bilge, you would have a better chance of clearing the hatch with blower/carb thus keeping wifey happy (no big hood scoops)

there are disadvantages too

1) its a SH*T load of work to re rig the boat
2) docking isn't as easy as when the drives are 35" apart
3) cost of stagger equipment isn't cheap!! but who we kidding, add the word boat and if you have to ask how much? you likely can't afford it!!!

hope this helped a bit... for more info ask the Guru himself.. Dan Macnamara (Team Archer)
