I recently sold my 25 outlaw and have been looking at 29 ol and baja 302 due to cockpit space.
Have been considering this 302 sport as I think our family ( have a 4&7 yr old) would have more room and still have fun on poker runs. Though we do more family trips to ship island below biloxi and to the local raft up spot.
Wanted to get some opinions and clarity on the CC scarab sport they have close with twin 300 xs.
It should put me close to 70 with that power..
What is true length of riding surface?? Gil included??
Want smoother ride in rough for kiddies and they would be sitting n back bench?? Safe ride??
Does front seat on console open?? Thought I saw that before not sure year.
Overall, I like the CC and would be a good family boat that we could grow with (( slkiing, tubing, later on) and fill the need for the occasional poker run. Or just get a 29 outlae or similar??
Any comments would be appreciated!!

Since no one is biting I will give you my two cents. That hull is a beast in the chop - real easy to get up on top of it and slice right along. The design (I am pretty sure) is the same as the go fast boats wit some modifications for a different cap. So a general conversation with other scarab owners (non-sport) of that size and era will give you an idea of how the hull rides. The 300sx motors are very nice motors and are very fast. I am not sure of speed but my 225 efi's got me into the mid 50's. from a family standpoint - I absolutely love having the little guys in front of me when I am running. I can watch them like a hawk the whole time. And it is an excellent tubing/ wake boarding boat too for when they get a little older. The downside is the cabin is SMALL. It is the equivalent of sleeping in a tent and has no real amenities.

I am not 100% sure about the seat and the potty. Mine is an 89 so it did not have that set up. There are a few guys on the hull truth boating site that are or where phanatics about the scarab sport. Go over there and ask the question. Look for a guy named scarabchris.

Do you know the actual length.. is it 30ft to transom or overall?? Can't find any thread that lists that clearly.

depends on whether it has a bracket or not. click on the 302 sport tab here -

You know the deal - get a survey and a good shake down run in. be particularly careful of hull rot issues (if properly stored under a cover or inside - no big deal. But if left uncovered it could be a problem like any boat). Good luck

I went from a PQ 280 to a 30 concept and absolutely love it, a lot more comfortable for kids to run around than a go fast, the 302 is a great boat, you should see close to 70 with those motors, if I had found one with the right power I would have bought one, I was set on newer DFI motors, not old smokers. I second th survey, they seem to have issues with soft floors around the console

have been talking to port monster and was going to put an offer this a.m....
then wife (she gets up early every a.m.) started asking about a sunpad or where can they sit on the back.... hmmm.
since this really pushed our budget up to $40... she had started looking on her own and really liked the 33 ol or the 302's..
sooo.. I guess I will not put a bid on even though I really wanted this boat.
port monster.. thanks for the help!
