I was gone from Sunday thru yesterday afternoon to Christian Youth Camp, but we were able to get a lot done last night. We got all this done to the right side in about 4 hours. 3 guys with DA's going, got the whole right side sanded, from the bottom of the keel to the rubrail. We got epoxy applied to the gouges and divets. We're gonna try to prime it today and hopefully paint it tomorrow. We shall see. I have given my guys a pep talk. If the engines come back in time and we're able to get done what we're trying to get done, we hope to have the boat ready for the water by next weekend. (notice I didn't say done, plan to replace gauges and work on console later, as well as reupholster some stuff later)

am i seeing this correctly,you painted one side at a time? pretty good Idea, am wondering how the paint will match being separate?

On this hull there are good breaking points for the paint. The bow and keel have so sharp a break from side to side that it makes breaking the paint no big deal. As far as color match, no problem, even if it were off a little, you wouldn't see it because of the break. Also, doing it this way, you gotta be sure the opposite is dry before you lay her over, and of course, you have to disburse the weight evenly.

when you had the liner out were you able to notice. how much room is there in the bow between the hull side and the liner side? i am interested in stiffening the hull.sides. so the boat is more solid. until i seen you remove the liner i would have glassed the inner liner and don e nothing to the integrity of the hull. i want to limit the creaks and rattles when running in the chesapeake bay. i already did some glassing of the hull side in the stern and it is quite a bit stiffer than it was.

When we had the deck off the boat, we could see down inside the bow closet and it looked like about 1" or less between the liner and the outer hull. Expanding structural foam may be the ticket for you there. I bought a case of liquid nails and shot some down in there below where I epoxied the the hull and the liner together at the rubrail, but I'm unsure how much actually contacted both the outer hull and the inner liner. I know some did, because it feels more solid, but to be sure, I'd say some expanding structural foam would do it.

Boat looks great but just one bit of advice turn your deck hatches sideways opening that way if god forbid they don't get latched they don't fly open and break off that's from experience.

Thanks guys. We got the right side primed tonight, hope to get it painted tomorrow, and maybe the trailer as well. I bought some new fenders for the trailer and will be fabricating some brackets tomorrow, sand blasting it, and hope to paint it. The trailer came with dayton axles, which look dated, but the guy who had it before the previous owner had rebuilt the brakes, ran new lines, etc. The surge brakes work great, so I guess I'll be keeping it, for now anyway.

We got the trailer sandblasted today as well as got the right side of the hull painted. Should be able to get the trailer painted monday...
