I believe your daughter just renamed the boat for you! "There goes Dad in his "MID-LIFE CRISIS" !!! haha!!!

hblair 05-09-2016 04:30 PM

lol Yeah I actually thought about naming the next boat that. Thanks to her...

Hey Hblair,
unfortunately I have water coming out of my forward stringers and I am clearly going to have to do something with them. my main question is in your pictures when you pulled the decking off, was there any foam in the outside stringer compartment or is there just open space?

hblair 08-23-2016 11:41 PM

Sorry didn't see this, haven't been on the forum in a few days. There was just open space in mine. No foam at all.

In other news, I spun 2 main bearings in my starboard motor 5 weeks ago tomorrow. Motors back together and should be in the boat by the end of the week.

How much boost are you running? What did the boat end up running?

So i have replace my rear stringers and transom in 2010 however i found that my forward stringers have water in them and that they have delamintaed. I really do not want to pull or have the place to pull the deck off the hull. So i am looking at different options to fix this. I have thought about cutting the deck and reglassing it when i am finish. Any suggestions/

It was actually 5 weeks ago yesterday. I figured out my left motor had the #2 and #4 plug wires crossed and I fixed that and put the boat in the water that day. I got into a race with a bass boat, outran him in time to look down and see low oil pressure on right motor. Long story short, My blower intakes were leaking oil between the heads over the back of the block. The gap there is wider than with the regular air gap edelbrock intakes. I didn't know this and couldn't see it. Everything was fine til at high rpms, oil went over the back of the block. I plan to make a frame to lift the engine with the blowers already bolted in place so I can see how well the intake is sealed before the motors go in the boat. I have also upgraded to 10 quart milodon pans during this time.

I'm still running larger pulleys on the blowers so I'm not running much boost yet.
I was only running low 70's with 21 pitch props (supposed to be hammered to 22 pitch by prop guy). I bought some 25 pitch props that I am installing now. So speed oughta be getting better. I can't ever get around to fine tune anything because it keeps breaking and blowing up...

Man I really don't know how you can get to anything on the stringers without peeling the deck off and pulling the liner out. If it helps, I left the deck and liner outside while we repaired our stringers. They are basically waterproof. Wish I had better news for you.

Finally got my motors ready to go back in hopefully tomorrow. Things always take about twice as long as planned on this boat..

Took her up to Florence Alabama this past weekend on the Tennessee River. I installed some 25 pitch props. Here's some videos of Shon and my son Dylan running 4500 rpm at 70mph. The left motor didn't want to spin any faster. We're thinking we had the timing a little to retarded on that side. We're gonna check into that. Lots of satisfaction seeing it back together and having no problems this weekend..
