Sorry guys, been busy with shop stuff lately. covid hit us again (4th time) about 5 weeks ago and crippled production AGAIN. We're trying to recover from that. I got the engine mounts modified to clear my 10 quart pans now. I'm waiting on oil and transmission coolers to get here to install before the engines go back in. Also nickerson called and said the holley carbs are taking a while to come in to them to modify and then send to me. In the next few weeks I should be able to get more done. Looking forward to it being cooler in Alabama in the coming months, should be able to move along quickly then.

Billy spent two days block sanding curtain and sags in the clear on the port side, then sanded it all with 1500, then 3000, then buffed and polished it. It looks a lot better.

Also, I drilled and installed the helm, and got the instruments sorted out. I still haven’t decided if I’m going to install a chart plotter in the instrument panel, I was leaning towards it, now I’m leaning against it. I’ve been thinking of just using an iPad for chart plotting. I’m afraid whatever plotter I install will be dated before long.

Also getting the cabin hatches prepped for paint.

Sanded with 3,000 grit? I wore diapers rougher than that! Hullside is looking beautiful, what a finish.
It’s all coming together nicely. 👍

Reflection is like a mile deep ! don't put a fridge near it, you'll bump into it trying to get a beer out.
Seriously, everyone who sees it will be awstruck, no one in the world wouldn't want on it.
shake down and a bahamas trip will be here before you know it.

before you know it, coming spring will be 6 yrs. since your epic journey to rescue an otherwise monumental task in "time, sweat and toil"
To imagine someone other then yourself, but with deep pockets delivering your bare Scarab hull to (for example) Team Archer and
saying "go at it" ....I think buying a new (boat) would be less costly then the hr. by hr. labor to fully restore.......It's wonderful to see your
talent and almost complete rise from the ashes journey!

I like the idea of using an iPad over installing something permanent on that classic dash. Hope this boat makes its way North someday to LOTO. Would love to see it in person.

We tried to use an iPad mounted in the boat for a speed display but it was an unreliable setup. A few droplets of water on the screen will affect cause it to malfunction and bright sun will cause it to overheat fairly quickly. It would have to be mounted in a cool dry place for it to work properly.
Would love to see this masterpiece come to LOTO as well. Beautiful job!
