Heath Boat looks amazing. You have done a great job on both of your boats! And it sounds great! Looks like the family had a great time and that's what it's all about.

"Would be cool if we could get all the long time followers of this thread to meet sometime for a day of boating. I'd pay for gas.
I feel like you guys have earned it for sticking with me for over 8 years lol." Yes, it would be something to all meet up, Heath. One thing is for sure though, we'd pay for Your gas. It's been a real treat following Your resto endeavors. Now we're looking forward seeing this beauty heading towards the Bahamas next year. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ae2e3ae9d3.jpg |

Buy the 377 in the classifieds and put some stock 502s with bravos and go Cruising.

I forgot to mention we’re working on painting the acrylic pieces on the side panels. They’ll get the beetle and WELLCRAFT script. It seems all the boats have a slightly different design. Should have them done tomorrow.

We got some comments here and there. Of course my boat is just a kayak down there with all the big money yachts etc.

Thanks guys. While on the trip I noticed a miss on the left side. One or two dead cylinders at times. Got back and ran salt remover in both engines. Pulled the dipstick and noticed milkshake. Argh. When I was putting the left engine together the head studs interfered with the GIL style exhaust manifold (apparently they were designed to clear head bolts, not studs) Had to grind down the studs to the tops of the nuts. Well when I first started the engine it had an exhaust leak on the left head. I got in there and was able to tighten them more and the exhaust leak went away. Remember at that time I was against the wall and just had to get it running for the trip. So I'm not sure if I cracked the manifold when I tightened it down or if I had a leaking head gasket.
Sooo.. To get the engine somewhat clean up and ready for the now needed rebuild, I drained the milkshake, removed the water pump belt, refilled engine with new oil, changed oil filter, ran it for 3 minutes. Next day, I drained that mess out, changed the oil, and filter, started engine to run it a few minutes minutes again, but a few seconds in, massive screeching sound (most likely a rod or main bearing spinning) I was about 5 seconds from the ignition switch and I quickly turned it off. That's where I am now. I haven't pulled the engine yet. I'll probably do that after Christmas. Boat's sitting covered now. All this was because of not having hose clamps on the MAP sensor hose. Another day in boat life :) In other news I noticed this video popped up a few days ago.. |
