Brian some of the later boats had cored bottoms and didn't need the grid work just depends on the laminate schedule the Gentry boat had a full grid work in it but it was not a cored boat.

I used a Bosch multitool and cut out the grid, it would pretty well. But don't grind all of the tabbing out. I did that at first, and I still am opening storage boxes and they are filled with a 1/4" of dust, from all the grinding. Instead, take a cats claw, hammer it under the tabbing and it will all pop out. HA, I was happy and mad at the same time when I figured this out. I spend 1.5 months grinding, creating so much dust I could't even see in my building. Then I decided to try prying the tabbing up, as none of it really seemed to be bonded well. Sure enough, I knocked out 1/4 of the engine bay in maybe an hour. Then I took the grinder and removed the rest, but it was minimal.

I love seeing what you are doing with the 38’ scarab. You are correct about the boat being used a lot. I knew the guy who owned it in the 80’s. Unfortunately he passed away in 1991 and his son sold the boat just after he passed. I have pictures of that boat back in the 80’s and might even be able to get my hands of some video of the boat running. The boat spent a lot of time on lake St. Clair, Mi.

Well heath after countless attempts of me trying to figure out how to send a picture thru the pm, and failing miserably, i resorted to the only way i knew i could post a picture. This is her, and thank you for info on the paint.
