You’ve got me scratching my head now.

I’m the confused one lol! You just got me thinking about manifolds, risers, angles, reversion.. You are correct. The inboard manifold is the opposite of the outboard. I just overanalyzed it.. Lol.. Carry on...

I put a layer of 1708 on the cockpit floor as well as on the forward side of the engine compartment bulkhead. The bulkhead is going to be a structural member of the boat. It will be tabbed under the gunnels as well and tabbed across the top to the bottom of the deck. I lack finishing this up as well as the braces on the hull of the engine compartment, glassing up the old water pickup holes in the bottom of the engine compartment, and tabbing the bulkheads to the deck inside the cabin.

To this point I have used 15 5 gallon pails of vinyl ester resin on this project. 1 1/2 rolls of 1708 fiberglass and I’m not sure about the quantity of plywood. I’ve replaced just about every single piece of wood in the boat except for a few short pieces of stringer up from and a few braces.

I’m happy about taking the time to tab the deck to the hull and bulkheads. I feel really good about the strength of this boat.

Nice work Heath! That is most of the hard and hidden work already done! Now it is time to start what is really going to be visible! And maybe more motivating to do!
as always, keep it up!

Getting all giddy with excitement. Thanks for the updates!!! Whats next????

hblair 03-12-2020 10:10 PM

Thanks guys. I’ve been so busy with work lately I haven’t been able to work on the boat as much as I’d hoped this spring. Probably next I’ll get the stiffeners glassed in the engine bay, drill drain holes, fix old water pickup holes, finish instrument panel, get it primed. Put saddle tanks in place. Install wiring. In some random order. 😄

I was able to piddle a little today. I got the old engine room bulkhead and laid it next to the boat and am gonna figure out how to lay out the switching system for the three fuel tanks going into two motors.

Also messed with the rubrail. Wanted to be sure the way I wanted to do it was going to work. my boat came with a little “beak” section of rail that covers the very front of the boat. Reusing this will make installing the rubrail much easier as I won’t have to make the extreme bend around the front. As you can see it didn’t fit worth a flip but I got Trent to add some aluminum in the gap and with some grinding and polishing it’s going to work fine. The new rubrail I bought is thicker, but only on the backside. Fits nice and flush on the surface.

Also, don’t look at the flash, you’ll burn your eyes. 😀

That is a big rub rail! Are you gonna leave it this color or will paint it?
the bow part fits perfect! Nicely done!
