Threads like these is what OSO is all about, JBonz thread too. It used to be "regular" folks fixing up and getting the most out of their boats, now it's pretty much a bling site. While it's nice to see these upper six figure machines and cutting edge technology surround them, it's tiresome and boring anymore and not reality for most.

I'll take this thread over a new 180+mph Skater show off thread any day. Bring it on...

Wow thanks guys. Was finally able to do some more today. I did a lot of sanding and got some more filler on the instrument panel.hopefully get it in primer in a few days.

It's possible I missed it but do you have any intentions of putting an angled floor in front of the bolster? Kinda like Cig does?

I know you probably have mentioned it a while ago, but what are you using for filler? How thick are you comfortable with putting it on?

Why are'nt you using for example thicken resin instead of filler? Easier to sand ?

Probably not Indy. I think I will leave the floor like it is. As far as the filler, we use evercoat rage extreme, although I have been trying out some 3M filler lately part number 1131. It's the tan filler in the last few photos. Both of them are quality and shrink very little. As far as thickness and whether to use filler rather than gel, I repaired all the stress cracks and larger original shrinkage cracks in the gel with fiberglass, and brought the repair almost flush with the surface of the gel. Then I applied body filler.

Keep in mind, the deck of this boat has ridiculously thick gel. Around the partition between the cockpit and engine compartment, the gel was literally 1/2" thick! Like they just poured it into the mold with buckets. There was a LOT of work grinding and beveling that out and repairing it. I feel good about how this is going to hold up. After 40 years I think the deck gel has shrunk about as much as it's going to shrink.
