Looks like i will be having the transom replaced. Hopefully that's all it will need. Its a 1998 38 AVS. I will be de-rigging the boat myself. But not doing the transom work myself. Can you guys think of any changes that should be made to the transom or stringers while everything is out?
Thanks in advance

Yeah do all kinds of whoopty paint work in the bilge. Make it look all perty 😉. I think I’m going to do that on my 81. I’d do some research on the x dimension and possibly change that if it’ll help your boats performance.

Been getting a little water in the bilge. Finally tracked it down to where the external steering brackets are bolted to the transom. Took them off over the weekend, noticed that no sealer was used when they were installed. Dug around in the holes. Wood is pretty much gone. And the wood I dug out, with a small screwdriver was wet. Started tapping around. Seems solid around the drives, tabs and exhaust. Not so good in the middle. All the way down to the center stringer.
