The next shock was the floor. We already knew that the wood quality was really bad, also, I had noticed that the floor was so unstable that sitting was like in a rocking chair. So the old stuff had to come out, which was easy since the lamination where the floor met the sides of the boat was easily ripped off with a pair of pliers.
What came out was even more disgusting. the tank should be held in place by 2 wooden crossmembers which were stapled to the stringers. Yeah, but how...

After we had the tank out, we reinforced all junctions of stringers, bottom, bulkhead, side walls with hevy weave glass.
the we dropped the tank back in and poured polyurethane foam around it. This stuff is amazing but, dont understimate the pressure it can generate! this tank wont move again. Ever. We also poured the foam in all major cavities underneath the floor in the forward section of the boat and under the (renewed) boards in the engine compartment (where the accessories are mounted), which should add more strength.
The new floor was made from 20mm plywood and got a sheet of 3mm aluminum in the area where the seats will be bolted down (so its not the wood alone holding them).
Unfortunately, I dont have any pics of that procedure.
All new wooden parts are coated with 2 coats of a polyurethane varnish to keep the moisture out. this is also some great stuff. You can thin it 1:200 with a special thinner, then it will soak itself to 25mm of plywood all the way.
I used this stuff to seal the gap between the transom and teh laminate (poured it in from the top, the area underneath the swim platform. Afer a few seconds, it came running out at the bottom of the transom through the drain plug! Now some of you may know why their transoms rot!)

Deck was back on, sealed this time with polyurethane sealer (will last forever. You could glue the engine in with that stuff).
One of the new seats I got through ebay;
Second pic, floor is almost finished, top layer was 500gram chopped strand mat to cover the wood. A last layer of yellow gelcoat will come on later.

And then, IMCO delivered.
12" extension box with 3" lift and external full hydraulic steering. Great stuff. Best company we have dealt with by far!! I´ll post a "review" of all the parts suppliers after the boat is finished, but IMCO will top that list, no doubt.
Bilge is also almost finished, the pumps would have kept the titanic floating...
Decided to make the engine mounts myself and hard-core; also with polyurethane sealer for even distribution of the stess exerted by the bolts through the stringers, heavy backing plates.

Spraying the deck; the green stuff is polyvinyl alcohol, which is sprayed on some 20 minutes after the gelcoat is mixed, it should produce a dry surface by preventing the waxes to rise to the surface (or whatever it does) and make it sticky ; works quite well, still needs some washing with solvent before sanding. Now that´s a poor attempt to fabricate a new dash. very embarrassing result.
