I have #5's on mine and like Joe the only issue I have ever had is the propshaft seals drying out and leaking. My boat is like Joe's but I do have boxes on mine and I think my drives may be higher...

10 years without replacing the impeller? that has got to be a record. I replace mine at least once a year.. If for any reason I have the pump off I replace it even if I just put one in 3 weeks ago....

Gotcha, I too have been victim of starting out with a simple (supposedly) task and running a muck and ending up with what I thought was a good idea gone wrong LOL. I agree $150 for a switch is crazy...
