With the proceeds, pickup some base 454s (find some mid to late 90s Vortec-based engines probably cheap). Full take outs on eBay are around 5k....

The 311 is a very heavy boat for its size. The published numbers on NADA or in Formula’s brochure are way off. Towing weights with aluminum trailers are near 10k...

Perhaps! But I was thinking some 420 B&Ms would be better. I already have the manifolds for them, though I’d have to cut the hatch to make them fit. Or maybe some 8-71s 🤔

Carbed setup you cannot go wrong with the Delco EST. Set the upper RPM advance (about 3k RPM all in) and let the idle do what it does. Great setup.
