The 40 skater classic hull has not changed in 25 years and a 1991 hull is still the lightest 40 classic hull, so not all boat models have gotten faster by technology, yes motors and props for sure...

Mercury 6 drive gimbal ring broke- options?

I know the rings on the gimbals on 6's are the weak link. I had heard someone was making billet or titanium rings that dont break, anybody have any info?

Not even close, the mti 36 is 34' running surface, the 40 skater is a true 40' running surface. 6' is huge, not much that runs better in rough water than a 40 skater
