Likely, or a loose rocker. Wouldn't a stuck lifter effect valve operation? If it's the exhaust valve would I smell un burnt fuel in the exhaust? ( cause I do)

Any way to unstick without opening...

Merc 7.4 Gen V clicking noise

Hi,

I've got a 454 that performs well, no power loss with throttle at all. However; I have clicking noise that is noticeable around 2500 rpm and gets louder as you increase rpm.

I haven't seen the final results, but did see the transom completed. I was happy with the work, next step is going to get my donor boat for new engine/drive. Hopefully I'm on the water in early May!

I don't know the upper ratio, but the drive is 2.00. The motor is a Gen V LX efi-mp, will the coupler/bell housing bolt up to my mark IV?

Motor is good, it's a donor because has hull damage above the waterline from an impact. I'd rather do the job for cheaper... But I don't think that's possible.

I figured a complete system would be cheaper than having to buy additional parts - bell housing, coupler, etc... I also thought a B3 would be better for cruise/ fuel.
