Exclamation Engine Flush

I just took my closed cooling system off of a 502mpi. It broke at the thermostat housing and started leaking everywhere. It wasn't a mercruiser part and the company that I purchased it from last year...

Re: can't go faster than 60.4

I just switched to my Ballistic prop this weekend. I also picked up a bad batch of fuel with some water in it..... Always something. I ran most of the tank out. 3 water seperators later. Last night...

Re: Formula 357...26% slip with mirage 23's

I have a similar problem with my boat.... My thread is in here too. I have a shallow drive and I'm going to try a 4 blade prop so I can get a little more blade area. I think you might want to try 4...

Re: can't go faster than 60.4

I am the second owner too...I am learning the boat as I go. I know that boat should go faster than it does with that motor. I am getting ready to swap a Ballistic onto the boat to do some...

Re: can't go faster than 60.4

Thanks Brett.... I don't know the X dimension on my boat but I could try to measure the distance the prop is below the boat from the dock tomorrow. I think my mirage plus has been worked too much.......

Re: can't go faster than 60.4

I'd like to get the boat in the mid 60's for top end and still have the ability to cruise in the low 40's. Part of the problem is that I know it should go faster than it does. I've spoken with other...

Re: can't go faster than 60.4

can't go faster than 60.4

How common is this question??? These things are never fast enough... I have a 1994 stryker equalizer with a 502 mpi. I have build sheets from Dingler racing engines and a dyno sheet showing 603 hp...

Re: overheating

I opened that padded bag and it exploded with padding. It was pretty funny actually. The post office is even slower when you move just before the holidays.

Re: Merc 502 spitting oil

That disk with the timing marks is the balancer. It sounds like the oil is seeping through just enough to be an annoyance. I would monitor it if you are still running the boat and if you are not...

Lightbulb Re: 500 efi alternators??

Rob,

They look just like the alternator on my Corvette. The C4 Vettes alternator have the same look and one of my friends and I have plenty of experience changing those. Underhood temp kills them....

Re: Merc 502 spitting oil

Thats not unusual for these motors. If nothing else was touched before this is most likely where its coming from. I have replaced a couple of vibration dampers with fluidamprs and noticed oil seeping...

Re: 353 fas tech more speed

The procharger setup with reworked props and crouching below the windshield should do it......Just remember that its not a drag boat or you'll kill the outdrives. Or you could just buy a lighter,...

Re: Hustler 500efi engine tear down & Build Up

Strip,

You might as well put the blowers on...You have the pistons and the work you do to the runners will just make them more efficient. That head gasket leak is surprising. No detonation, low...

Re: steamy 502 exhaust

Great catch.....At least you still had water coming through. That could have been ugly. I had some blockage in the raw water pickups on the leg. My motor is on a closed cooling system but the exhaust...

Re: Overheat at idle

My boat did the same thing last spring. The impeller pieces were blocking downstream. It would heat up whenever I got in no wake zones but as soon as I got out moving it was fine. The pickup on the...

Re: x dimension??

Thanks....Well I can see what the prop height is then. I think my slip is way up. I have a 28 Stryker Equalizer with a 502 mpi. The motor is generating just over 600hp. The rpm for peak horse is...

Re: x dimension??

I was way off.....I thought it had to do with the outdrive and the distance behind the boat and how deep it allows the prop to go in the water. I thought that was why people put short drives on or...

Question x dimension??

I have read a few things about the x dimension on this forum but I don't know exactly what it means. I know it has to do with the relationship of the outdrive to the boat and there is some optimum...
