GPS locations for 31 SS

Since there is very little room on the driver side of the dashboard, has anyone had any success with mounting a fixed GPS Unit on top of the dash so that a driver can see.

I already have a solid Garmin on the passenger side of my Sonic 31ss, but I can't see if while driving.

regarding the back filling the motors without the plates, the 496 HO's only take in the water through the exhaust system to cool down the heat exhanger since they are closed coolant systems...

I just spoke to my mechanic and he cautioned against removing these as these plates keep water from backfilling the motors

The one that I purchased for my 31 Sonic from Offshore Performance is not the correct size for a 31 Sonic as it hits my exhaust pipes. My mechanic just tried to install today and is not comfortable...
