That Velocity sounds nice; but is at double my spending limit. I grew up around boats but haven't owned one myself. I'd like to keep it low budget for the first one.

Something like that 22...

What about some of the older fishing boats based on performance hulls? The more and more 15-25 year old sport boats I look at I see a bit too much soft goods going bad and lack of deck space.

Room for 4-6 people to take a 2-4 hour dinner cruise. Cuddy only has to have a porta-potti and enough room for 1 or 2 people for those days anchored out when you need to get out of the sun.

Good small beginner boat?

Starting to seriously think about what I want in a boat. Mostly would be used in NJ, ICW side, occasional trips outside in very good weather. Looking for single engine, trailerable, 19-23'; small...

Re: "THANK GOD IT'S A BERTRAM"

Who is them? I remember the work shop at our Marina when I was a kid had a huge Bertram poster of the stern of either a 42 or 46 convertible. All you saw was the guy on the flybridge holding on for...

Re: Good first performance boat - 26' CC Stinger or 26' Wellcraft Nova

Oh and there is a 28' Cary Open Fisherman I've been keeping my eyes on for a long time with new twin big block inboards. IIRC, the 28' Cary became the 29 Blackfin, but without any kind of windshield...

Good first performance boat - 26' CC Stinger or 26' Wellcraft Nova

Re: Rocky pics..

My Offshore Confession

For years I grew up around boats. Mostly 30-40' Convertibles and Sport Fishermen. I know big block Crusader inboards, atrocious fuel consumption, and 18kt cruise.

As much as I've always lusted...

Re: 50ft CARY Lovers

You're most likely 100% correct, but Go Fast Be Louds are a new breed to me. I grew up on Sportfishermen/Convertibles in the mid 30' range. Good family times. But I'm starting to get into the...
