Re: Sorcerer idle and at speed just listen!! NICE

I have a jet boat with a bds blower and their efi setup, 16 injectors on top of the blower. I have a wicked solid roller cam in it also. Mine surged real bad because the idle control from the...

Re: 150 ci ... 720 hp

the only problem is that with only about 250 lbft of torque, you'd want to hit the water at top speed, and don't stop (kinda like the snowmobiles)!

Re: dyno numbers

Classic example: I dyno'd a friend's race truck on my chassis dyno. The truck series allows either a 305 homebuilt, or the gm 350 sealed motor. He buys a factory sealed race motor from gm. Gm says...

Re: dyno numbers

As a dyno operator, I think anyone that buys a performance motor should take it to a local tuner to have it dyno'd / tuned for local conditions. A good tuner has no interest in jacking the numbers,...

Re: can you weld a cast iron engine block???

I've seen one get welded once, with a stick welder. The guy put the bare block in his powdercoating oven and heated it up first. He said we was using a special rod also but I don't remember what...

Re: PREOILLERS: MASTERLUBE vs.ACCUSUMP

Fountaineer, I've been thinking about using pumps for my boat. Which pump do you use? Do you have it set up for oil changes as well?

Re: PREOILLERS: MASTERLUBE vs.ACCUSUMP

zahndok, mine is installed in my circle track car. I wanted to have as much oil as possible in the preoiler so if/when the pump pickup sucks air, the preoiler would supply oil to the engine. I try...

Re: PREOILLERS: MASTERLUBE vs.ACCUSUMP

it's simple to install, as long as it's basically upside down. I have mine pre-loaded to about 8psi. I also have a remote filter so I plumbed the masterlube line into the remote filter mount...

Re: PREOILLERS: MASTERLUBE vs.ACCUSUMP

I use a masterlube unit on my race car. I researched others and liked it best because of the 'ball bearing' design that allows you to pre-load it and forget about it and not worry about it failing

Re: 502/540

800: The heads are oval port, 110cc chamber GMPP heads. I haven't been able to find any more info on them. I have lightning headers and a/f was at 12.5. I'm planning on switching out the heads...

Re: 502/540

I just dyno'd my gen 6:

540 , 10:1, aluminum GMPP heads, dual plane, demon 850, crane hydraulic roller with about 600 lift. I can look up the cam part number if interested. The general consensus...

I'm pulling both motors out this weekend to install new oiling systems including new oil coolers, hoses, adapters, etc. to try and get my oil pressure up and...

Re: How difficult is it to pull a motor?

It helps to have a backhoe! I probably can't add anything that hasn't aready been mentioned but I can share my experiences. I made the mistake of putting the motor in without the accessories...

Re: Help with piston meltdown at 9 hours 454 sc

Did you dyno with the flame arrestors on? I just finished dynoing my 540 and after getting the a/f to 12.4-1 without the arrestors, we did one more pull with the arrestors on and the a/f went to...

Re: dyno'd my 540 today

I haven't had the heads flowed, they are stock gmpp part number 12363392. I couldn't find any numbers on them. The plugs look good, I ran the boat today with an o2 sensor and it runs around 12.5...

Re: dyno'd my 540 today

RR, see attached.

I just got this boat and it seems real sluggish after about 4500 rpm (half throttle). Anything over half throttle doesn't seem to add much speed, it ran about 70mph at 4800...

dyno'd my 540 today

I thought it did pretty good except the torque peaks way early.

dual plane manifold
GMPP oval port aluminum...

540 engine advice wanted

I just bought a 91 scarrab 31 with dual 540's. It will run about 77 mph WOT. I was hoping for 80-85. Long story short, a bad lifter caused a piston to burn up. So now I have to replace at least a...
