My 500's are getting up to 400 hrs and thinking...

My 500's are getting up to 400 hrs and thinking of refreshing them up with all parts including better springs but would anyone recommend different camshafts as I am looking for a little more power ....

hard to start after armed up?

I have a fresh 500 cubic in. with a holley 400 hr carb,, and after it is warmed up I have to full throttle it to start. Would this be a choke or float problem?
