That piece that pushes down the band to apply it is the Reverse Band Link. That piece should be flat and straight. I seen them before bent to about a 20* V.

There's a pipe plug on the port side of those trannys down low where you can put a temp sender if you want. Your right, measuring the water temp going through there won't tell you nothing.

I use a 3/8" dump out the side at the rear of the boat. As for dumping it on the drive like a shower a TRS circulates the gear lube in the drive from bottom to top so they really don't need a shower....

The clutch plates don't come in any kit. All parts for these trannys are NLA from Mercury. You can get the clutch plates online. That clutch drum and some of the associated parts are from a Ford FMX...
