Update: Good News!

Installed new starter today. Problem fixed. No screeching. started right up. Thanks for everyone's input to my issue. Very much appreciated!

Good point I opened up the side plug of the drive and the oil was still clear. I'll have to take a look at the shaft if I can get in there and see if there's any rust on it.
