Re: OSO Members I need your opinion

Yes... if you are running raw water through the engine you must keep the temps under 150 or the salt will dissolve your engine quickly.

Re: New Longblocks, Rebuilt, Remanufactured???

I say rebuild your old engines. If you knock the core plugs out and boil out the blocks, you can inspect them and see if they have too much corrosion. If the salt water was kept below 150 f you...

Re: Performance Boating school

There are a lot of us that have run in the ocean and have a pretty good idea how to handle their boat. But it's nice to hear the way a professional would handle the waves and the boat. I could learn...

Re: OSO members in Galveston Tx area.

Actually, it's not on "Galveston Island" but across the water on "Goat Island". There is a ferry dock about 1/2 mile from the property. I was wondering if there is a launch ramp near there.

Re: OSO members in Galveston Tx area.

I'm looking at some property on Galveston island. I was wondering if anyone boated out of that area and how badly hit the area gets from hurricanes. Besides... there are less shaved head blowhards...

Re: Pics Of Oil Cooler Rigging

That is what I would do with the coolers, Rob. They don't really get fugged up unless you have a serious engine issue like a melt-down. About oil filter flow: the more oil they flow per minute the...

Re: Pics Of Oil Cooler Rigging

There is always a concern about getting all the contaminants out of a remote oil cooler. You can have them sonically blasted. I cleaned mine by soaking them in stoddard solvent, draining them,...

Bypass.... anti drain back valves are a rubber flap that goes up against the ring of holes around the outside area where the filter screws on. Filters don't need a drain back valve if they are...

Re: Pics Of Oil Cooler Rigging

As long as the chrome is on the outside only, there shouldn't be any difference. The heat exchange happens on the inside. What little heat that radiates on the outside isn't going to make any...
