Is it possible to drill out a standard bravo bell housing to be used with the HP gimbol ring with the heavy duty hinge pins????

Believe me, it isnt worth the effort. The HP gimble ring is a stronger piece, looks the same, but is cast differerntly. Not sure about the bellhousing. I broke one ten yrs ago and broke my head in the process.. was messed up for over a year from that accident. When it comes to the transom assy.. buy it dont try to build it.. Just my .02..

I already have the HP ring installed and been using the standard bell housing. I want to just use the correct hinge pin set up with that ring.

Here is a quote from a post 3+ years ago by Blackhawkdn
"You need to install the tilt pins, they can be installed by drilling the gimbel to fit the tilt pins , I've done this many times and it does work. Make sure you use the proper drill size, mic the tilt pin "
anyone else try this ????

Iv'e never done it but if I was gonna, I would take the parts off and let a machine shop do the work on an end mill not with a hand drill, A hole that is .005" to big could mean a lot a trouble down the line.

The holes have nylon bushings in them also, so there may be room for some leaway.. but the mill would be the answer. I just wouldnt do it. I would buy the right bellhousing to had to your Gimble ring.. But I am biased after bumping my head ..
Good luck with it.. I hope it does in fact work.

HP doesn't have trim senders on the gimbal ring. If you went to the expense to purchace the HP gimbal ring, why wouldn't you go for the bell housing also? Rigging the transom assemblie is as dangerous as rigging the steering system. Don't go cheap on the important things.

The shop that ordered the ring got the wong one. I didn't know this until I was almost finished installing everything and I went to mount the trim senders
