I’m having second thoughts about powering a new 21' Sutphen. I ordered a Merc Opti 225 Pro XS on a Stainless Marine bracket and jack but have the option of powering it with a Merc MX6.2 (320hp)/Bravo One. The boat is currently in production will be the first retooled Sutphen and will be a bowrider. The new Sutphen will look very similar to the classic 20' but the hull has been lengthened to 21' and deck is being raised about 2' above the rub rail. The added deck height will allow the 320/Bravo combination without having to fabricate a raised cut out in the deck hatch. The Opti comes standard with a 3 year warranty. The 320 comes with a 1 plus 2. I’m thinking the 320 may plane and carry seven adults better than the O/B. Fuel prices and consumption are an issue and I also want to stick to 87 octane. The Sutphen 20 runs over 75mph with a 320 and low 70's with a 225. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
