I'm looking for a drive shaft gear for my Bravo One 1989. They only want to sell the kit with all the upper gears rather than just one gear. Any body ave any, know where I can get one new or used. Its a 27 tooth. 1:5 ratio drive shaft gear.

The reason they will only sell you the set is because they need to be replaced as a set. They are factory matched becuase up until very recently there was no way to shim the upper gear set in a bravo drive. The tolerances are pretty important if you want to get decent life out of it.

They need to be replaced by the whole set now, but you could purchase the gear alone before, i wonder if premature wear from improper shimming made Merc start selling them as kits??
It used to be $196.00 for the gear alone, now its over $800.

The old uppers can be shimmed.. Imco has been doing it for years.
The reason you get a kit, is the new gears are included along with clutch and shift fork.. old and new are not compatible..

the old uppers are shimmed with a new gearset. be aware of the drives serial number as it will effect the gearset you need. hillbilly is right all three gears do require replacment as a set.
