CMI E-Tops for 272 sr-1 Formula
#2
Mtgbiker, it doesn't look like the 272SR1 owners did a Lot of mods to these. I have one that I have did quite a bit to but no help to you on the exhaust, this is one of my present limitations. I am running the standard Stainless Marine manifolds with Whippled 454s. I think Mopar used IMCOs or Gills on his if I am not mistaken.

Ok,,I'll step in,,a few years back I had an 88 272sr1 with twin 454s,,,when I put the new motors in the center to center specs( I think it was 33") wasn't spaced far enough apart to use the Lightnings or the CMI's, I ended up moving the engine hatch ram and using Bassett headers.
Hope this helps.

Going to be pricey, but I believe CMI and Trick will build a set for my rig. I just need to double check the center to center measurements as noted.

I went through this on my 311 years ago. If you have a silent thunder platform on you Formula, you might have a problem with reversion. The thru-hulls are mounted higher than standard, causing the tailpipes to be almost horizontal. 3" rise CMI's would not work on my 311 wtihout cutting a lot of structural fiberglass.
