I know I shouldn't ask!

I know I shouldn't ask! BUT, at cruising speed what kind of fuel consumption would one see driving a 419 w/triple HP500's. This boat would be a big step for me. Fuel consumption could possibly be an issue...

I would guess hat you would be in the 1-1.5 gpm range. Nort aka PhantomCaos should know. His Sunseeker has tripple 502's. Just bump up his numbers a little bit.

Not to rain on your 419 parade, but I remember reading somewhere that the Formula 419 breaks bravos like no tomorrow, because of all the weight. I almost bid on one awhile back, and did some investigating and decided to pass..... I think that was part of the reason for Formula to stop making it.
Good luck,

If it helps. Just hooked a scan tool to my 500's a few weeks ago and got the following per engine.
3200 RPM = 18 GPH
3800 RPM = 24 GPH
Multiply that x 3 and you should be close.

For me to buy a triple engined boat, it would have to be a real good deal That is one thirsty boat, not to mention three oil changes, three tune-ups and questionable resale value.

Dock Holiday, what speeds are you running at those rpm's? Would like to to a mpg equation...... I'd expect to see 1mpg at best with twin 500's just going by the numbers they post in the magazines. And with trips, I would think you would be under 1mpg....
So if you could post the speeds at your rpms, would appreciate it.. Have any numbers at higher rpms?

As ya'll know, when gas was $1.50-2.00 per gal (which I thought was alot) I still didn't sweat it that much. But when you have to spend over $300 dollars to fill up your boat (at the gas station, not even considering premium fuel at a marina
), I figured I would ask to see if it was even worth entertaining the idea.
The only reason I would entertain the idea is that it could be a heck of a good deal!
I'm guessing the cruising speed (3000 Rpm?) should be around 50 MPH?

I've had similar bad thoughts about the Mack Daddy Formula 419 - just the *bling* factor might be worth it!
But.... unless you can afford to wipe your bottom with $100 bills....
