Which spark plug wires for 454 mag?
#1
I'm looking for new wires for my '96 454 mag (thunderbolt V IGN). I like the big MSD wires. Anyone known what part number I need to get the proper lengths to route around the back and under the exhaust manifolds? Do standard big block chevy wires work?

Almost any decent performance wire will work fine. The big fat wires are not necessary (but do look better). Just make sure you get the resistance core wire. I like to make my own wires up as I can get the lengths just right and eliminate the spagetti. I also tie my wires up very well using zip ties. There is a pretty slick method using 4 zip ties. You loop the one tie around all the wires and then use additional ties to separate each wire. Tighten them up and you are ready to go.

Napa has a good Beldin wire .They make a set for that motor and get them to cross it over to the regular line it will be cheaper than the marine vers. They have a lifetime warrenty also.
MSD sells a set for about 75.00
Teague has some for 47.50 ???? Becarefull of them

Taylor plug wires are excellent. You can order them through Summit. The come in a variety of colors as well and are available in cut to length kits.

Just found this doing a search, Is there a difference between regular car wires and marine wires? How about distributor caps. I want to change my old 8mm wires to a set of red 8.5mm wires and replace the cap with a red as well. Will I have any problems with just buying a set off of Summit racing's web site?

The Summits were beautiful though. I may end up using them on an SBC.
