Down...storing it in the up position will mess up the bellows.

Doesn't matter what time of year it is, I always lower my drive to keep the bellows from stretching.

ditto...it's in the merx book >>> Down boy, Down..

oh yeah, I tag my hitch on trailer warning any moron that needs to move the rig with a forklift, not to raise too high so the skex don't drag. Always gotta be thinking...

good idea, where I keep mine at you just drop it off then they put it away so I'm going to have to let them know that it is down

All the way down for three reasons

1. Any water trapped in exhaust area ( carrier) of the drive
could freeze and split drive (if outside rain / snow)
True for Outboards as well as I/O's

2. The trim pistons rams are in the cylinders and keeps them
from rusting
True for Outboards as well as I/O's also

3. The bellows are in a more neutral state less stretching

This is a fourth reason than ive seen once

Any water in Drive oil will settle to bottom rather than
around gears and bearings in the thrust end . But you
should change Drive oil before winter storage just so you
know if you have a problem.
