Default What HeadGasket did Merc use on 575sci?

I looked up the Merc part number for an 02 575sci. It is a 27-811546A03 headgasket. Did they use Felpro or something else? I'm looking for the equivalent part # for what they used. Thanks.

The 575 uses a head gasket supplied by GM that's made by McCord. It is definitely inferior to the Felpro or Cometic's gasket. All 575's with stock gaskets should be replaced. The Fel-pro # you would need is 1047.

Use the Felpro and if it's a 02 replace them before you run the boat again. Save yourself a lot of trouble.

The Merc head gaskets are no good.

I know this thread is from the past but, did 02s have different gaskets than 2001s? I was told some came with Felpros??? I will be changing mine if they are not atleast Felpros.

The Cometic gasket is by far the best unit available today Mercury has been using them on the 1075SCI and 1200SCI for the past couple of years. One thing to keep in mind that Cometic does different from Fel-Pro is that they are very bore specific. In this case when they say the bore is 4.470 thats exactly what it is, As where when you buy a Fel-Pro gasket for a 4.500 bore in most cases the actual gasket bore is 4.540. What I'm getting at is if you rebuild one of these factory engines and go to the next over bore size it uses a completely different gasket part # as where the Fel-pro unit doesn't. Our part number from Cometic uses the same basic number with a #302-prefix. We can supply you the Cometic gaskets part #302-C5760-040 for $83.95 each plus shipping.
