What brand do you guys run with Electric over Hydraulic brakes? I have an old standard controller and looking to upgrade to one of the new proportional controllers. Is this a good one? Thanks

Get a intia brake controller. The only thing better is the one that comes built in the dash with new Ford pickups.

It is an inertia controller. Just not sure if it is the one to buy. I wrote proportional sorry for the confusion.
Not buying a new truck for a brake controller that is for sure.

I just installed one on my truck. You better call the trailer mfg. I talked to Extreme and they said the one that works best with theirs is the Activator II by Drawtite. They said the ones on the Ford trucks do not work well with their set up. This was told to me as well at our local specialty shop trailer world. This controller looks pretty old tech. , but it worked.

Carlisle recommends the Tekonsha Primus for their electric over hydralic actuator. I have the Prodigy and it requires an extra device to work properly with the Carlisle unit (as does the new Ford controller).

Once you get used to having control over your trailer brakes you'll never want to go back.

I'm using a reese brakeman digial on the brakerite elec./hydraulic and it will stop truck on a dime.Very happy with mine.

I have the Drawtite Act. II, Carlisle rec. this 3 yrs ago when I got my boat and trailer. That's what I was told my Manning Trailers! Good Luck

Make sure it is compatible with your brake system. I have a Brake-rite system on my Eagle trailer. Eagle stated the only controller that will work correctly is the Tekonsha voyager. Must be others are now compatible as docmanrich37 is using Reese.

Thanks for the info. I have an ActiBrake System and I do not see any issue with any of the inertia controllers I have looked at working but I will double check before I buy.

I already like the electric and discs now I just need a good inertia controller and I am set. No more bumps from the surge coupling!

Did some more checking. I found this information.
We recommend the use of the Hayes Lemmerz GENESIS in-cab controller.

Matches up with the TITAN BrakeRite and the TITAN ActiBrake electro hydraulic brake controllers. The GENESIS is the higher choice due to it's more advanced proportional braking, hydraulic settings and decelerometer chip technology.

Should work well I think. I have an ActivatorII now and it works fine but I want the newer tech and should have even better braking under all conditions. No adjusting so maybe the wife will drive towing! Nah.
