Wife and I washed our 320 Black Thunder. As always we ended up with water in the bilge. Hit the manual switch, nothing. Checked the circuit breaker and it was popped. Reset it, still nothing. I am not worried about finding the problem. I was wondering what is the best set up to upgrade to. I want to set up a good dependable system. It now has a remote float switch and a 1500 Rule submersible. I am curious what is being put on new boats and what experience others have had. Thanks.

first of all may not actually be the pump check where its spiced in usualy a bad connection....if you have power there and at the pump then its the pump.......


best pump on the market is the lovits pricey but well worth it

Shy away from the "electronic" swithcs (Water Witch et al) and the "computerized" pumps.

Look for corrosion (green stuff) at all splices and test the switch. Lovett is the best around and lasts forever. Just make sure it's installed in a place so that you can get to pump. It needs to be reomoved to replace the belts.

Agree with previous post, my lovette's were in for 18 years, replaced them with identical units when engine was out. Not bad!

Best bilge pump setup is multiple pumps independently wired. I have two under the engine one is 1" higher than the other + 1 in the low point of the hull.

I had one 1500GPM pump previously, didn't know it had quit until I needed it when the plastic raw water fitting on the transom assembly fractured.
