boat lifts
who uses what? I am going to have to make a change and I am thinking I do not want another like the kind I have now. Looking for suggestions, 13,000# minimum lift capacity, prefer closer to 18,000#. thanks!!!

Dean I just had a 18,000 lb DECO lift installed yesterday. It is by far, the nicest lift I have ever seen. I know the owner of the company and can get you a discount. I will post a picture tomorrow.

well, sounds like this will not work for you, I will keep an ear out, I am going to be in hte market for a big one in the next week or two. If I hear of something I will pass it along, please do the same....

Hi-tide all the way. Best dealer network and they STAND BEHIND thier product, I have seen cases where a customer overloaded the lift and they still stood behind it. 10 year warranty. At a local marina there was a 45 triple engine Sonic on a 12,000# lift for years 
I have 3 of them, all are 14 years old, other than cables (at 8 years) they are maint free.
Few guidelines no mater who you choose,
Do not by a lift with a flat plate drive. They are bottom of the line garbage.
Chain drive with a gear box is "ok"
Direct drive (motor directly coupled to the gear box) is the best.
Beware of lifts with pillow box bearings, these are steel. They are also made for higher rpm and not needed with the slow lift.

I have 4 Hi tide lifts a 20K 16K 5K and a 1500#. The lifts are great but atleast in my area it's hard to get good service, they were months behind on the install and it's been three years now and the bunks on the 16K still arn't right.
Pay as little as possible up front, if you need poles driven those guys perfer cash and most of the time will knock a little off if you pay in cash. Don't pay anything before the work is done. The guy who did my poles left a 35x75 barge behind my house for 2 months and wouldn't return calls.
