I have a 1996 tri-axle "Competitive" brand boat trailer, can't figure out how to prohibit the brakes from coming on when back it up. There is some sort of spring lever underneath, also a pin on a safety wire, but have yet to figure out how to work it. I can see some sort of shaft underneath in the hole where this pin might be able to go, but the shaft extends past the hole, so the pin can't be pushed up through it. I was thinking that this might be some sort of parking brake? Not sure. Anyone have any ideas on how to lock out the brakes in reverse?

They also carry the Reverse Solenoid. It has to be wired into a 5th (typically blue) wire from your tow vehicle. This wire is hot when your reverse lights are on as your vehicle is in reverse. It will block the surge coupler from pushing fluid back to the brakes.

IF you live in a very hilly area, or have issues with this setup, you may need to modify your master cylinder to allow for a Bleed Around setup around the solenoid. Meaning, if you are often going downhill, your brakes will drag and overheat. The bleed around setup will allow your brake pressue to relieve on downhill grades.

I switched my last trailer from a blocking solenoid to a bleeding one. Got it from Champion for about $50.00. Works GREAT!!!!!

so are you guys saying that i have a reverse lock out now, i want to know how to use it first before buying something else??

Is this company still in business? Would like to contact them to figure out this reverse lock-out if they are.
