Have a couple racing stripes on the deck that are fading and starting to crack. Don't know what type paint was used, but its an 88 model boat. Is ther a paint remover that I can safely use and not bother the unpainted areas ajacent to it?

I suggest 1 of these 3 options----
1>I would mask off the stripe- sand off as much existing paint as possible,if not all -re-mask - prep - and re-paint the stripe.
2>No removing that stripe unless you repaint the whole area.
The sun has had too many years.
3>It would wetsand off, but then you would have to wetsand, compound & polish the whole area. You would still have discoloration. After this process you could put the stripe back on, you would probably be able to see right where the stripe was.
Good Luck,___________G.

I do plan to re-paint the stripe since I know the gel coat won't match the surrounding areas. Just wanted to find the easiest way to remove the main portion of the existing without damaging the glass underneath.
