Default raw water pickup question

i have a bravo 1 w/454, thru hull exhaust. towards mid summer we get alot of weed in the water. right now my pickups are the traditional ones in the outdrive. i would like to put a thru hull pickup in. can i just add a T and combine it with the outdrive pickup hose. if i do this ,do i have to change any hose sizes?

you can just take the plastic fitting off the inner transom plate where the 1 1/4" hose is attached and put a block off. then put a 1 1/4' through hull ball valve in the bottom but on the outside you install a south bay strainer. your weed problem will be gone. you also need to cut the water hose on the outside bellhousing so that water can be forced through the drive to keep it cool. the second method would be to just cut the 1 1/4" hose coming into the boat and install a strainer but you will still need to clean it out from time to time.

install a hardin marine sea strainer and be done with it. easy to use simple to install and it comes with a bung in it to use as a fresh water flush.
