Having some trouble with my Fuel Gauge lately, each year empty is in a different spot. Started at 3/8, Now empty at 1/2 a tank. Boat is a 1988 Formula 242, updated with livorsi gauges.
What style sending unit do these older Formulas have? How do I order a replacement? I checked out Trick marines site earlier and it looks like you just need to know the depth of the tank, if so what is the depth of the Formula 242 tank?

Your can get the tank skematics from formula they will email them to you. The livorsi gauge uses a standard ohm range sender if Im not mistaken. I would recommend the tube type "inductive" gauge to avoid needle bounce and get a more accurate reading. Ive bought a few things from these guys and they do a good job.

I replaced my fuel guage in my first Formula with a Livorsi. The Livorsi sender comes in different lenghths. Order it longer and cut it to the right size. Yes, I said you have to cut it. Real simple to do. It is a small brass tube inside of a larger aluminum tube. It acts like a capicitor whereas the inner tube reads how much air is in the tube and changes value as the level changes. NO moving parts! I like that in a boat! I think they come in 12" increments, so you will have to order a 24" sender. Good Luck!

Have it apart now and it is 12.5 inches deep. I'll stop by Livorsi on the way home and see what they have. Thanks guys!!

Any recomendation on where to get the power and ground from on the new sender like above? The VDO sender was a single wire, new gauge is a 3 wire. Ground is easy, more intereted in a good place from switch power.
