Well, the new trailer arrived and of course it had surge brakes when I specifically ordered electric / hydraulic. The dealership says they are going to take care of it, but I was just wondering:
How different are the costs for surge brakes vs. electric / hydraulic? With surge brakes, you've got the surge mechanism at the tongue; with elec / hydraulic you've got the hydraulic pump and some extra wires.
Just curious in case the dealership gives me a hard time.

A good surge coupler runs about $350-$420 depending upon trailer rating ( 10,000 or 20,000 GVWR capacity ) per Champion Trailers. The BrakeRite E/H controller runs $570, you still have to add your own cab controller to that but that wouldn't be included anyway. Hope that helps! Steve
